How Billy and his buddies can help increase your child’s personal safety
The Billy Brings his Buddies program helps parents and families teach their children the importance of supervision when they are going places and when they’re online. This means having a buddy with them when, for example, they’re walking to and from school or playing at the park, and also when they’re playing games or watching videos online.
Who is a buddy?
For children this age, a buddy is someone who is old enough to supervise and take care of them (12+), including:
- a parent
- a grandparent
- an older sibling
- a babysitter
What families can do
Through storybooks, activities, and games, families can learn about and practice this safety strategy together.
When families make the buddy system an everyday habit, children’s vulnerability to victimization decreases and their personal safety increases.
